Keyana Kellan Joins Peninsula Home Care as a Community Health Worker
Published on - February 14, 2016SALISBURY, MD – Peninsula Home Care (PHC), an award winning home care agency on the Lower Shore of Delmarva, announced the addition of Keyana Kellan to the Community Health Worker team. PHC is the first home care agency in the region to offer community health worker services through a partnership with Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Keyana will make home visits to clients in Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset counties to provide professional health services, medication management, education, resources and social assistance such as food security, insurance or Medicare guidance and transportation services to and from medical appointments.

Keyana became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) and Medication Technician upon graduation from Wor-Wic Community College. Keyana’s work experience includes working in the residential program at Dove Pointe and time spent in a local nursing home. She started as a Community Health Worker for Peninsula Home Care in November, 2015 and currently sees twenty five clients in the community.
“I always wanted to work in the healthcare industry,” said Keyana. “I like being able to help people and see the look of satisfaction on their face after I care for them or provide support to help them get something they need. It could be as simple as scheduling a doctor’s appointment or helping a client get medical assistance. Whatever the need is, they know I am there for them.”
Currently, Peninsula Home Care CHW’s are serving more than 85 clients on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Clients do not have to meet home care requirements to receive services. The CHW makes regular home visits and follow up phone calls serving as an advocate for health and daily living needs. The program is offered over a six-week time period but can be extended depending on the client’s needs. Community health workers are available to clients from 8:00am to 4:30pm (Monday through Friday).
